Brest: There were 1,200 voters on the list and 1,543 voted. Observers file complaint.

Liudmila and Aliaksandr Dzenisenkas, activists of the Belarusian Party of the Left "Fair World", have filed a complaint against violations of election legislation at polling station No. 41 in Brest, where they worked as observers.

According to Aliaksandr Dzenisenka, he wrote that the vote count did not meet the standards of transparency. “The observers were at a distance of 10 meters from the place where votes were counted and they were not allowed to come closer,” said he. “The members of the commission completely screened the table with their backs. The results for each ballot box were not announced, and I only learned them from the general protocol.” The observer believes that in doing so the election officials grossly violated article 13 of the Electoral Code, which provides for the transparency in elections.

In turn, Liudmila Dzenisenka draws attention to the fact that the commission had improperly compiled a list of voters. According to the protocol, on October 10 the list had 1,200 voters, and the commission had received 1,220 ballot. “At the same time, the final protocol shows that 1,534 people voted at the polling station, and 76 ballots were not used,” said Ms. Dzenisenka. “It turns out that the commission had 1,620 ballots and the chairman of the election commission gave false information. So I do not rule out that this could be a deliberate reduction of the number of voters in the polling station in order to ensure a high turnout of voters.”
