Brest region: all signatures for nomination of Viktar Tsiareshchanka are declared invalid
Brest Regional Election Commission was the last REC to sum up the results of the collection of signatures in support of the nomination of candidacies for the upcoming presidential elections.
The meeting addressed the question of determining the number of voters who put their signatures in support of the nomination of candidates for the president.
As noted by the chairman of the commission Aliaksandr Kaliada, five electoral teams were working in the region. Most active were the teams of Aliaksandr Lukashenka and Tatsiana Karatkevich, which collected signatures in virtually all districts of the region. The electoral teams of other contenders, on the other hand, collected signatures mainly in Brest.
According to the official data, the REC declared valid 257,141 out of 258,819 signatures in support of Aliaksandr Lukashenka, 15,893 out of 16,268 in support of Tatsiana Karatkevich, 5,018 out of 5,053 – in support of Siarhei Haidukevich and 1,570 out of 1,709 in support of Mikalai Ulakhovich. What concerns Viktar Tsiareshchanka, his electoral team passed 6,038 signatures, but many invalid signatures were found during the verification. As a result, the commission declared invalid all signatures in his support.
