Hrodna district: Only pro-dem candidate not included in precinct election commission

The administration of the Hrodna regional executive committee has held a meeting to form local precinct election commissions. As a result, 36 commissions were formed within just 15 minutes. According to independent observers, 452 candidates were nominated to the commissions. Only four nominations were rejected by the officials. Among them was the only representative of local democratic parties, Maryia Bartos, a member of the United Civil Party who was nominated to precinct election commission No. 20 in the town of Svislač. According to the officials, Mrs. Bartos, for various reasons, including her elderly age, cannot work in the precinct commission. Meanwhile, 100% of the candidates proposed by the pro-government organization Belaya Rus were included in the election commissions.

Aliaksandra Vasilevich, head of the UCP’s office in Hrodna region, says that the ban on membership in the election commission imposed on the only representatives of their party, which has previous experience of work in the commissions, is clearly discriminatory, including by age.
