No opposition on precinct election commissions in Baranavičy
On August 25, the Baranavičy city executive committee held a meeting, which approved without any discussion a list of candidates for 68 precinct election commissions of the city. Head of organizational and personnel department Tatsiana Chylik said that a total of 787 people were nominated to the commissions: 236 candidates were nominated by citizens through signature collection, 265 – by labor collectives, and 286 – from non-governmental organizations and political parties.
The only pro-democratic political party which nominated its representatives was the city office of the Left "Fair World". It proposed 4 members to the precinct election commissions, but none of them was included. Traditionally, members of election commissions are representatives of pro-governmental NGO: "Belaya Rus", the Belarusian National Youth Union, the Belarusian Union of Women, Association of Soviet-Afghan War Veterans, and the veterans’ organization.
