Observer in Žodzina appeals against city election commission
Aliaksei Lapitski, observer of the campaign "Human Rights Defenders for Free Elections" in Žodzina, has filed complaints to the Central Election Commission and the Minsk Regional Executive Committee to appeal against the city election commission, which refused to address numerous facts of abuse of administrative resources in collecting signatures by the initiative group of Aliaksandr Lukashenka.
According to licviny.info, the observer stresses in his complaints the biased approach by the chairman of the election commission, who was nominated by the NGO "Belaya Rus", to alleged violation of Part 10, Art. 61 of the Electoral Code.
He asks to dismiss the election official from office and re-elect another head, which would act objectively, in accordance with the requirements of the Electoral Code.
The human rights activist also emphasizes the discrepancy between para. 5.6 of the CEC’s Guidelines with the above-mentioned rules of the Electoral Code and the need for clarifications and introducing changes in the rules.
The observer focuses on unacceptable restriction of his rights as a complainant against violations of the electoral law.
