Mahilioŭ region: district state-owned newspapers cover only activities of initiative group of Aliaksandr Lukashenka

The district newspapers of the Mahilioŭ region pay little attention to the presidential electoral campaign in Belarus, concentrating more on the harvesting in the districts.

In particular, the Saturday issues Škloŭ newspaper “Udarny Front”, Kruhlaje - “Sieĺskaje Žyccio” and Bialyničy - “Zara nad Drucciu” published no articles related to the elections.

The district newspapers regularly publish the informational materials of the state news agency BelTA about the novelties in the electoral campaign, statements of members of the Central Election Commission, etc. All of them also tell the readers about the collection of signatures in support of the candidacy of Aliaksandr Lukashenka (“The candidate for the upcoming elections has been determined”, “The picket was collecting signatures”, “Pre-electoral marathon in Asipovichy. Thoughts about the future”, “The work of the initiative groups on collection of signatures for the nomination of candidates for the elections of President of the Republic of Belarus continues in Čerykaŭ”). Meanwhile, the activities of the incumbent President receive a hidden advertisement in the newspapers. Sometimes one can also find openly laudatory articles about him, such as this one, belonging to Slaŭharad newspaper “Prysožski Kraj”.

At the same time, the newspapers haven't published any informational materials about any other contenders for presidency and the activities of their electoral teams.
