Signatures for Lukashenka are also collected at “Homieĺkabieĺ”

The Human Rights Center "Viasna" has learned that July 28 at the company “Homieĺkabieĺ” people were forced to sign for the candidacy of Aliaksandr Lukashenka during working hours.

As reported by one of the employees, the electoral team of the incumbent President came to the plant. The administration told the workers to take their passports, come to the checkpoint and sign for Lukashenka. Some of the workers disagreed, argued and shouted. The heads of the workshops threatened to dismiss those who didn't sign, as the enterprise had the contract system of employment.

As a result, a large number of employees of “Homieĺkabieĺ” took excerpts from their passport and went to the checkpoint to sign. Currently the company employs about 300 workers.

Let us remind about similar cases, when signatures were put during working hours under the pressure of plant administrations: at “Zenith” factory, at Salihorsk enterprises, in Mikaševičy hospital, in Homieĺ school No. 27 and so on. Such actions of the electoral team and the authorities of organizations, institutions and enterprises are illegal.

"Human Rights Defenders for Free Elections" reminded that participation in the election campaign at all its stages is voluntary. Those who violate the electoral law and force citizens sign against their will can be brought to administrative and criminal liability.
