Signatures collected for Lukashenka during working hours in Homieĺ school

Human rights defenders and journalists have received information that on 29 July the office of the head of school No. 27 in Homieĺ will gather signatures in support of Aliaksandr Lukashenka. According to a school employee, the staff were ordered to come to the headmaster's office with their passports. As a result, a dozen employees came to the office with their passports. They said they had come "to elect the President," and that they were waiting for a representative. Human rights defenders visited the school headmaster, Sviatlana Kubyshkina, to ask why signatures were collected in her office during working hours, that is, with the use of administrative resources. First, she said that “the people themselves had expressed the desire", but then she left for a moment and returned with a different answer. The official said that the employees had come to a meeting. However, she could not explain why they had their passports on them.

"It is a predictable situation, because there are few pickets that collect signatures in support of the incumbent president, and they do not visit the apartments very much, because it requires great efforts, and I think that the authorities do not want to invest a large force. Therefore, it is predictable that the signatures are collected in the workplace, in the office of the headmaster. Especially if the boss says that it is necessary to come and sign – how can a subordinate refuse?” said human rights activist Viktar Adzinochanka.
