Baranavičy: two members of pro-dem forces on city election commission
Today, a joint meeting of the Baranavičy City Council of Deputies and the City Executive Committee was held to form the city territorial election commission. The meeting was attended by local human rights activist Viachaslau Bolbat.
There were 21 nominees to the city territorial election commission, among them a representative of the city branch of the party "Fair World" Ryhor Druzhynin, local member of the Belarusian Language Society Viktar Syrytsa and individual entrepreneur Mikalai Charnavus.
There was no open debate and voting on the candidates to the election commission. Officials of the City Council and the City Executive Committee only approved the proposed list composed of 13 people. As a result, the election commission includes representatives of the Communist Party of Belarus, Belaya Rus, the Belarusian Union of Women, the Belarusian Republican Youth Union, the Union of Veterans, the Belarusian Union of Officers, the union of public institutions. The TEC also has representatives of Fair World and the Belarusian Language Society.
