Babrujsk: Territorial commissions formed in 16 minutes

Territorial election commissions were formed today in Babrujsk. The meeting was attended by local representative of the Belarusian Helsinki Committee Siarhei Latsinski.

As a result, it took just 16 minutes to form the commission of two districts. 16 persons were nominated to the election commission of Lieninsky district, and 18 people in Pieršamajski district. Local representatives of the party "Fair World" Albert Sekerzhytski and Artsiom Mihalkin were not included in the commissions.

Other representatives of opposition parties and movements decided not to be nominated to the territorial commissions. During the previous presidential elections, there were 19 applications from local activists.

The TECs are comprised of members of the Fund for Peace, the Belarusian Veterans’ Association, the Youth Union, the Belaya Rus NGO, the Communist Party of Belarus, the Federation of Trade Unions, and the Republican Party of Labor and Justice. 11 people were nominated by citizens. Nominations for candidates were not discussed, and the officials voted for a list of nominees.

Traditionally, government officials voted for the most ‘competent and experienced’ individuals.
