Homieĺ: campaigning pickets banned at bus stations

On July 17, the Homieĺ city executive committee announced the list of places forbidden for picketing to collect signatures in support of presidential candidates. The decision of July 15 differs from the previous similar legal acts adopted in the last elections to local councils (2014) and the presidential campaign in 2010 by imposing a ban on collecting signatures at bus stations, railway stations and at the territory near the stations.

The ban also mentions the distance of 50 meters from the buildings of the executive committees, courts, prosecutor’s offices, subways and the "territory of the organizations ensuring the safety of the state and the livelihoods of the population (the enterprise of water, heat, electricity supply, educational institutions)."

It is forbidden to hold pickets to collect signatures at a distance less than 200 meters from the radio and television buildings, the Beltelekam enterprise and less than 100 meters from healthcare institutions.

Almost all of the district executive committees in the Homieĺ region have banned picketing at a distance of less than 50 meters from the executive committees, courts, prosecutor’s offices, police stations, schools, hospitals and other major objects. The hospitals and healthcare facilities cannot be approached closer than 100 meters.
