Babrujsk: campaigning opportunities expanded
The official website of the Babrujsk City Executive Committee published on July 17 a list of places prohibited for picketing in order to collect voters' signatures for nomination of presidential candidates. The document was adopted on July 16.
"In order to ensure public order” picketing is not permitted in two central squares of Babrujsk (Lenin Square and Victory Square), inside an underground pedestrian crossing in front of the main entrance to the Belshyna enterprise (banned for the first time), at a distance of less than 50 meters from the objects of railway and road transport (train stations, bus stops), at a distance of less than 50 meters from the buildings of representative, executive and administrative bodies, courts, prosecuting authorities, the territory of military units.
As compared to the previous presidential election, the list is shorter. For example, in 2010 campaign teams were not allowed to work outside utilities, health care, culture and sports facilities, educational institutions and entrances to major enterprises. Thus, this year there will be much more places to collect signatures.
