Brest officials announce forbidden campaigning locations
The list of venues where campaigning for the nomination of presidential candidates will be forbidden includes Lenin Square; the territory of the Brest Fortress memorial complex and railway facilities.
In addition, organizing pickets to collect signatures will not be allowed at a distance less than 200 meters from buildings occupied by the editorial boards of television and radio media, as well as radio and television broadcasting stations and radio transmitting stations. It will be impossible to collect signatures less than 50 meters from the local representative, executive and administrative bodies, consular offices, courts, prosecuting authorities, and the organizations in charge of national defense, state security and livelihoods of residents of the city (public transport, water, heat and power supply), and less than 100 meters from churches.
The decision of the executive committee also mentions that the voters’ signatures for the nomination of candidates for the presidency of Belarus may be only collected from July 23 to August 21.
